Our final update of 2011 sees Town hovering tantalisingly outside the Blue Square North playoff places. Overall, I would say we're about where we deserve to be, but can we push higher over the next year? Only time will tell. Look back over the season so far on the SDS Stats page, updated after the Hinckley match.
Members and subscribers should recently have received the latest SDS Newsletter. As Simon points out, there was not enough material to merit this being a full 'issue' of the SDS - as ever, all contributions are welcome! - but hopefully a meatier issue will be published not too far into the new year. The Beer Trail has also been updated for our Boxing Day trip to Gainsborough. All that remains is to wish all our members, readers, Town fans and their families all the best for the festive period and to a happy 2012!
Well, well, well! The first appearance for the 'new' Halifax Town in the First Round of the FA Cup, and we've only gone and drawn the highest ranked team in it! Check the SDS Stats page to see how we got there (and think how Tadcaster Albion must be feeling...)
Also, on the off chance any Charlton fans are reading who intend to visit the Shay, I don't believe anyone's yet mentioned our usual drinking hole, so I feel a plug is in order - see the Beer Trail for a link through to the Shears Inn, one of Halifax's best kept pub secrets.
The next few Saturday nominated pubs can now be found in the SDS Beer Trail. Please check back for updates after the upcoming FA Trophy and (hopefully!) FA Cup draws.
Also, we now have a limited number of the SDS86 Newsletter available for general sale, click here to view the Ebay page.
Members and subscribers from the season past should shortly be receiving their copy of SDS86. Membership and subscription details for the coming season, sent out with the latest issue of the SDS Phoenix, can also be found on the SDS News page, which we hope to keep more up to date this season! As a 'thank you' for sticking with the SDS during a relatively inactive year, all 2010-11 members are able to re-join at 50% discount.
The Beer Trail is updated with our first nominated pub, and we are also pleased to announce our Match Sponsorship for the Workington match at the Shay on Saturday 3rd September. If you wish to attend, see the SDS News page for more details, email info@shaymendownsouth.co.uk or write to the usual postal address.
The final stats for the Shaymen's second successive championship season can now be viewed on the SDS Stats page.
The eagle-eyed amongst you may have noticed the paucity of updates on this website over the last 12 months, mainly due to the webmaster's (thankfully now completed) PhD thesis submission and viva examination. We will hopefully be updating the site much more frequently over the coming season, which happily coincides with the most southerly matches Halifax Town have played since the re-formation of the club in 2008. The Beer Trail will be updated on a regular basis - the webmaster is particularly looking forward to the south-western matches early-ish season, but other more London-friendly SDS meet-ups will no doubt be organised in due course. Please check back over the next few weeks for more details of SDS activities and membership details for the coming season, and as ever, thank you for sticking with us.
